How do I start? |
To become a volunteer with the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company
there are some things that you need to do. To get started,
you can either
download our application, or stop by the fire station and
pick one up. Once your application is completed,
return it along with a $5 application by mail or to any
member at the Fire Station. |

What happens to my application after I turn it in? |
Your application will be presented at our next monthly
membership meeting and then posted for 30 days or until the
next meeting. During this posting period, the
Investigation Committee will contact your references for a
background check. Also, you will be contacted for an
interview with an operational officer. Your application,
along with all background and interview information, will then
go back before the membership decision on membership. |

What happens after I am
accepted as a member? |
Once accepted, you will begin a process to gain riding
status on all the apparatus, be fitted for protective gear,
and register for training classes. All the classes are
free of charge to you - and are required to become a
firefighter. |
